What is a Medical Weight Loss Program?

Our Physician-Directed Medical Weight Loss Program is here to help you reach your weight loss goals effectively and safely. Dr. Lal individually treats and monitors every patient throughout their weight loss journey, customizing their plan to ensure it meets their specific weight loss goals.

Semaglutide is an FDA-approved medication that works by altering the hunger centers in the brain, reducing hunger, appetite, and cravings. This medication slows the rate of stomach emptying, effectively prolonging fullness and satiety after meals.

Those who are experiencing obesity and struggling to lose weight are at a greater risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, but we are here to help!

Our program offers two different medications: Semaglutide (Ozempic®) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®). The weight loss medication paired with a modified lifestyle can help you reach your weight loss goals and aid in disease prevention, allowing you to live a longer and healthier life!

How does it work?

One of Rejuvamed’s providers will first set up a free virtual consultation with you, during which we will ask a couple of past medical history questions to ensure you’re a good candidate for our program. We require blood work before starting the medication, so if you’ve had bloodwork done within the past six months, please email the results to info@rejuvamedny.com

If you have not had bloodwork done within the past six months, we will schedule you to come into the office and have it done with us. Once Dr. Lal or one of her providers reviews and approves your lab results, we will have you come in to pick up your first dose of the medication, four injections per month.

The medication is administered once a week, the same day every week for four weeks, and then you would come in to get your next month’s dose after those initial four weeks. We start everyone on the lowest dose for safety precautions and to give your body time to adjust to the medication. The weight loss medication is not covered by insurance, but your blood work will be.

At the time of pickup, we provide the patient with all the necessary materials for proper medication administration, including four syringes, alcohol swabs, and gauze in a sealable insulated bag. The medication does need to be kept cold and refrigerated at all times. We provide safety injecting guidelines to ensure the drug is administered correctly and safely. We also provide an information sheet that includes what to expect while on the medication, what foods to avoid, and what foods to consume while on the medication, including an example daily meal plan with caloric values for patients to refer to.

FAQs

The side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. We offer to prescribe Zofran to manage any nausea symptoms for all new patients. We also encourage our patients to drink 1 gallon of water daily to avoid constipation.

We are a Physician-Based Medical Spa that personalizes every patient’s treatment plan to meet their specific weight loss goals. We monitor our patients very closely, provide guidance on a modified diet, and weigh them at each visit.

It all depends on the patient and how much weight they are looking to lose. Patients can expect to lose anywhere from 15-30 pounds in the first 4-6 months. This also depends on their commitment to a modified lifestyle of moderate exercise and a healthy, balanced diet. Patients should be in a caloric deficit while on the medication.

Avoid alcohol and foods that are greasy and high in fat. Limit ultra-processed and sugary foods to help better control your blood sugar.
